Our Sports Department

 

At Aberdour, we are proud to offer extensive opportunities for girls and boys to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.

Our focus is on skill development, tactical awareness, and a love of sport. With expert coaching and plenty of encouragement, all our pupils, regardless of ability. We want every child to enjoy sport and take pride in their own performance.

 


Core Sports and Programmes

Pupils enjoy participation in team sports including:

  • Rugby

  • Football

  • Netball

  • Hockey

  • Cricket

In addition, we run both squad and elite gymnastics programmes, offering specialist training to help children reach their full potential.

Our Health Related Fitness module introduces the basics of Sport Science, encouraging pupils to understand training principles and methods that promote lifelong health and well-being.

All children from Reception to Year 6 swim once a week, in addition to their regular PE lessons.

 


Fixtures and Competitions

Competitive sport is an exciting and integral part of life at Aberdour. We offer:

  • Regular matches against other schools

  • Inclusive match participation for all pupils

  • Opportunities for our Gifted and Talented athletes to compete in:

    • IAPS events

    • Regional and national tournaments

    • Hosted football and cricket tournaments

  • Swimming galas and cross-country events as part of both school and house competitions

Our facilities support year-round sport and physical education. They include:

Clubs and Co-Curricular Sport

Our extensive clubs programme builds on the core sports curriculum and introduces pupils to a variety of other sporting opportunities they may not encounter in regular lessons.

 


Parents and the Sporting Community

We strongly encourage parents to attend fixtures throughout the school year. Their support is vital in creating special, lasting memories for our pupils and in celebrating their efforts and achievements.
