Our Community #aberdourcommunity

"A school is so much more than lessons and timetables. It is a living community of children, parents and staff – and when that community works together with a shared sense of purpose, children flourish."

PHILLIP MAKHOULI - HEADMASTER, ABERDOUR SCHOOL

Bringing the Aberdour community together

The Aberdour Parents Association, known as TAPA, is a registered charity run by volunteer parents. We bring families, pupils and staff together through events, fundraising and community initiatives that enrich school life and help create meaningful improvements for Aberdour children.

Our role is simple but important. We help build connection across the school community, raise funds for projects that sit outside the school budget, and create opportunities for parents to get involved in a way that feels welcoming, useful and enjoyable.

We want TAPA to be visible, inclusive and easy to be part of. Our focus is not simply to do more, but to do the right things well, making our impact clear, supporting the school where it matters most and creating moments that bring parents, pupils and staff together.

Get involved

Whether you can help at one event, share an idea, join a committee, volunteer in Collins’ Coffee Shop, support Brummels or simply come along and take part, you are very welcome.

About Us

Who we are

The Aberdour Parents Association is the parent led charity for Aberdour School. We are run entirely by volunteer parents and exist to support the life of the school community.

TAPA has a long tradition of parental involvement at Aberdour. Over the years, parents have helped organise events, run fundraising activities, supported Collins’ Coffee Shop and Brummells, and funded projects that improve the school environment for the children.

What we do

We focus on three things:

Community

We create opportunities for parents, pupils and staff to come together. Our events are designed to help families feel connected to the school and to one another.

Fundraising

TAPA raises funds through events, donations and the profits generated by Collins’ Coffee Shop and Brummell’s, our second-hand uniform shop.

Impact

We work with the school and the wider parent community to identify where TAPA funds can make a meaningful difference, whether that is through play equipment, outdoor spaces, learning resources, community events or targeted support.

Our ambition

Our ambition is to make TAPA more visible, more inclusive and easier to get involved with.

We want every parent to understand what TAPA does, how funds are raised, where the money goes and how ideas are considered. We want to celebrate the contribution of volunteers, make participation feel simple and welcoming, and ensure our efforts continue to benefit the whole Aberdour community.

Over the next year, our focus is to build a clearer, more sustainable model for TAPA. That means making our impact more visible, creating a balanced calendar of events, building a broader volunteer base and strengthening our partnership with the school so that funds raised translate into meaningful improvements for the children.

We are not here to do more for the sake of it. We are here to focus on what matters, make TAPA’s contribution easier to see, and build a stronger parent community alongside fundraising.

Sponsorship and support

We welcome thoughtful support from parents, local businesses and community partners.

Sponsorship helps us improve the quality of events, keep ticket prices accessible and increase the funds available for projects that benefit the children. We are happy to discuss financial sponsorship, in kind support, prizes, auction items or services that could help TAPA events.
