New Appointments to the Board of Governors

We are delighted to announce two new appointments to the Board of Governors at Aberdour
School: Mark Lascelles, Headmaster of Epsom College, and Jacqui Sanford, who joins as
a Community Governor.

Mark Lascelles brings a wealth of experience as an educational leader and is currently in his
second year as Headmaster of Epsom College, one of the country’s most respected schools.
Mark leads Epsom with a clear mission to help young people “lead fulfilling lives and make
meaningful contributions to the world.” He believes that while academic excellence provides the
foundation, education should inspire imagination, confidence and curiosity – ensuring pupils
leave school not only with strong results, but with the friendships, ideas and skills to thrive in life
beyond the classroom. An ideal match for Aberdour.

Jacqui Sanford joins the Board as a Community Governor and will have a significant impact in
her role supporting Aberdour’s family of pupils, parents and staff. Deeply connected to the life
of the school, Jacqui brings warmth, insight and empathy, together with a strong understanding
of the values and relationships that make our community so special. Her son, Luke, joined
Aberdour at the age of two and left for Reigate Grammar School this summer. Jacqui has been
Co-Chair of TAPA, a dedicated volunteer in the Coffee Shop, and still continues to volunteer
for our Pre-Prep school trips: a true example of the Aberdour spirit in action.

Mark Lascelles:
I am flattered and delighted to be joining the board at Aberdour, a School that has an incredibly
strong reputation locally and a vision that matches my own. Schools should strive to provide
challenge and opportunity in every area, in order to ensure that pupils make great progress, grow
in confidence, have fun along the way and love their time at school – and I am excited to be
given the opportunity to help Aberdour realise this for every child.

Jacqui Sanford:
I am delighted to be joining the Board of Governors at a school that has been such a special
part of my family’s life for nearly a decade. I look forward to supporting the wonderful
Aberdour community and helping it go from strength to strength
