Geography
At Aberdour, our Geography curriculum ignites a lifelong curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. Through engaging weekly sessions, pupils develop essential geographical knowledge, skills, and understanding. We embrace technology to enhance learning, incorporating tools such as Virtual Reality (VR) and a range of digital resources to bring geographical concepts to life.
We foster a hands-on approach, including a variety of fieldwork activities within our school grounds and the local area. Children will explore the dynamic interplay of physical and human processes, gaining insight into how they shape our diverse landscapes and evolving environment.

History
History at Aberdour is an exciting journey of discovery. Through an enquiry-based approach, pupils learn to analyze a range of sources and evidence, constructing arguments while building crucial historical knowledge, skills, and understanding. Our weekly history sessions bring the past vividly to life through engaging activities such as role-play, in-depth research, the examination of fascinating artefacts, enriching workshops, and inspiring school visits.
We harness the power of technology to enhance children's learning, utilizing tools like Virtual Reality (VR) and a diverse array of digital resources to create immersive and interactive experiences. Our aim is to create lessons brimming with excitement, allowing children to immerse their imaginations and nurture their innate curiosity about our extraordinary past.

Philosophy, Religious, and Ethical Education (PRE)
Our PRE curriculum at Aberdour offers a rich and diverse exploration of topics that shape our world, including world religions, philosophy, contemporary issues, significant individuals, current affairs, and moral dilemmas. Recognising the profound influence of faith, politics, and culture, we empower students to approach these subjects with a studious and investigative mindset. Pupils will develop a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and cultivate their ability to analyse religions, texts, and issues through historical, sociological, analytical, and ethical lenses.
The PRE department is committed to providing pupils with a balanced and informed understanding of the beliefs and histories of world faiths. Our exploration of Biblical texts aligns with the school's Christian ethos, offering opportunities to deepen their knowledge of faith and history through theological study. In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding the context and roots of others' beliefs is essential. This curriculum equips pupils with vital social skills and provides a valuable foundation for future academic and professional pursuits, enabling them to navigate a world where religious and cultural understanding is paramount.
