Aberdour School

Sports Facilities

Aberdour offers many opportunities for girls and boys to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.  Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of relevant skills.  All children are encouraged to take pride in their own performance and to enjoy sport to the full.  Pupils are able to be part of competitive team games as well as individual pursuits such as tennis, golf and swimming.

Our Sports Hall can provide for badminton, fencing, tennis, basketball, netball, soccer, gymnastics and cricket nets all under cover, whilst our superb playing fields encompass football, cross-country running, lacrosse, hockey, rugby, athletics and cricket pitches.  We also have all-weather courts for netball, tennis and hockey, and two all-weather cricket wickets.  Our indoor heated swimming pool enables all children from the age of four to have swimming lessons from a specialist teacher, and many gain awards in local and national competitions.

For those interested in individual sports there is an opportunity to have tennis, golf and squash instruction.  There is a well-attended gymnastics club and pupils have won several gymnastics awards in recent years.  Ballet lessons are available from the age of four.

In addition to their more mainstream games, girls at Aberdour also have the opportunity to play football, touch rugby and cricket.

Parents are encouraged to attend the many sporting fixtures throughout the school year.
