Pre Prep Years 1 & 2

Aberdour is a school where each child is encouraged to develop to his or her full potential. Nowhere is this more important than in the early stages of education. It is during these years, when children are at their most receptive and eager to learn, that we ensure that their grasp of basic skills – taught under the gentle guidance of our expertly trained staff, will enable them to build firm foundations for their future education.

Our Pre-Prep Department is located in its own colourful courtyard setting within the main school site. With access to our extensive grounds and facilities, we are able to provide a broad range of learning, sport and playtime activities. The atmosphere is friendly and happy, and children are encouraged and nurtured in a safe and caring environment.

In Years 1 and 2, the National Curriculum guidelines are followed with particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy skills. The programme of work is designed to both support and challenge each pupil.

Personal, social and emotional development is actively promoted within the Department, and children are encouraged to care for others both at school and within the wider local community.
