Aberdour School

Founded in 1933, Aberdour is a thriving and extremely successful preparatory school for 350 girls and boys aged 2 to 13 years.

At all levels we aim to provide every child with an individually tailored education that identifies their potential and maximises their opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.  Set in 12 acres of parkland and with a wide range of specialist facilities and specialist staff, we are large enough to offer all the breadth of opportunity you would wish for your child, but also one which is small enough for everyone to really matter.

Essentially, the school is an immensely caring, nurturing environment, where happy children enjoy coming to school and are encouraged, stretched and stimulated.  What makes us really special is our ‘PAL’ system for Personalised Achievement Learning.  Each child is assigned a specialist tutor who actively tracks and manages their progress through the school.  These ‘Tracking Tutors’ are responsible for identifying strengths and further potential, ensuring that each child makes the most of every opportunity.

The results speak for themselves.  Although we are non-selective, we have an exceptional record of success at gaining admissions and scholarships to the leading senior schools in the area.  Aberdour children are much sought after by these schools and we work in close partnership with them.

As well as employing highly qualified, highly experienced and highly motivated teaching staff, Aberdour has many impressive facilities, including a large sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, two purpose-built science laboratories, libraries and two IT suites.  Outdoors there are extensive playing fields which include all-weather pitches, courts and wickets.  There is also a coffee shop where you can relax and meet the friends you’ll make.

Come and see us and you’ll find a School with plenty of space for young children to grow and thrive, an environment that is safe and comfortable, and a genuine, friendly community where everyone is welcome and everyone feels at home.
