ABERDOUR TIMES
from the Deputy Headmaster
No. 204 27th June 2008
Aberdour meets Aberdour!
Year 8 spent a week in Scotland where they visited our Scottish name-sake and introduced themselves to the children at the local school. They then faced a number of challenging adventures – first of all from a base in St Andrews and then further in the Highlands at Dalguise. Assisted by a highly-involved Headmaster they have scrambled on sea cliffs, walked up hills, discovered the horrific murders in medieval St Andrews and spent four hours mountain biking on the hills overlooking the River Tay. This left enough energy for jumping off 40ft towers, scrambling through assault courses, building reasonably successful rafts and hauling Mr Collins up on a giant swing! They flew back happy, exhausted and in need of a bath!
A huge thank you and well done to everyone who took part in the MS Cake Break recently. We raised £150.70 which has been sent to the MS Society. Thanks to everyone who baked, bought and ate the cakes or simply gave a contribution.
Aberdour House Music Competition
The final took place on 18th June – everyone played well and standards were particularly high this year. The winners for each year group were: Years 8 – Sam Burki, Year 7 - Joshua Morris, Year 6 – Hannah Taylor, Year 5 – Courtney Hammond, Year 4 – James Collins, Year 3 – Thomas Turner. The overall winning House was Clements, with 1 point between 1st, 2nd and 3rd places! Well done to the winners and runners up for such a good concert and a big thank you to everyone else who took part in the heats.
Year 1 visit to Tattenham Corner
“Last Thursday Year 1 went to Tattenham Corner. First we went to the train station and looked at the train times. Then we did a traffic survey. We had a sheet of paper and we ticked it when the vehicles passed. Then we saw a vet called Vet & Pet. It had toys for pets. Later we had a drink and biscuit by the race course. “ Sam Turner, 1L
