Aberdour offers many opportunities for girls and boys to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.
Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of relevant skills. All children are encouraged to take pride in their own performance and to enjoy sport to the full. Pupils are able to be part of competitive team games as well as individual pursuits such as tennis, golf and swimming.
Our recently refurbished Sports Hall can provide for badminton, fencing, tennis, basketball, netball, soccer, cricket nets and gymnastics to elite level, all under cover, whilst our superb playing fields encompass football, cross-country running, lacrosse, hockey, rugby, athletics and cricket pitches. We also have all-weather courts for netball, tennis and hockey, and two all-weather cricket wickets. Our recently refurbished indoor heated swimming pool enables all children from the age of four to have swimming lessons from a specialist teacher, and many gain awards in local and national competitions.
Aberdour offers a wide range of individual sporting opportunities alongside the team games including: gymnastics; tennis; athletics; swimming and trampolining to name but a few. Aberdour is affiliated to British Gymnastics and we currently compete within the South East and Surrey. We have won various medals within these regions and have represented the South East at National finals for the last 2 years.
In addition to their more mainstream games, girls at Aberdour also have the opportunity to play football, touch rugby and cricket during PAL and extra-curricular sessions.
Parents are encouraged to attend the many sporting fixtures throughout the school year.
